- wouldn't want to shovel THAT driveway lol... course down there you probably don't get enuff snow to shovel :) your warm soft place sounds wonderful my friend, niiiice shot!!
Elaine- @ 2010-01-07 22:16:54 - Those utility poles - the tread marks to infinity - nicely seen, Sherri.
Stephen Phillips @ 2010-01-07 22:59:53 - The warm light certainly supports this "going home" feeling. And the utility poles: You won't find them very often here in Bavaria, as almost everything is put under ground. In this ways similar parts of the world develop different visual marker sets.
Markus @ 2010-01-07 23:34:56 - Ain't noth'in warm about the South these days! It has that slight magenta cast of cold...brrrr. best...jerry
ordinaryimages @ 2010-01-08 00:17:02 - i hope you took that through the windshield of your warm car, sherri. because it looks like a long, cold walk to the next... whatever is down that road.
(i love the photo, especially your use of muted light).
Seraphine @ 2010-01-08 00:54:01 - beautiful, reminds me of some movies
i wish all those need to find a road to home found their way to that road
yz @ 2010-01-08 01:15:42 - Snow seems being evewhere this year.
What a superb perspective shot!
Standley @ 2010-01-08 02:00:26 - It does make you wonder what's at the end of the driveway, awating us. Will you show us??
Ginnie @ 2010-01-08 02:12:40 - Excellent picture,
great perspective,
intriguing, cold light,
looks like a frame from a road movie,
I love this kind of photography.
frankdejol @ 2010-01-08 02:58:48 - paisajes de invierno...es lo que toca :))
bonita captura.
NJ & SB Photography @ 2010-01-08 06:11:41 - My eye is just following the path in the road.
Krista @ 2010-01-08 06:17:09 - That is a VERY long driveway, not sure if i would turn up it unless I knew what could be at the other end...Love the repeating units of the power lines. Nice composition.
Yvonne @ 2010-01-08 06:58:49 - Hard to believe that's a driveway!! Good thing you don't typically get a ton of snow!!! Nice image!!!
Marcie @ 2010-01-08 07:10:06 - a drive way !?!??!?!?!?!??! holy moly, i'd hate to be the guy that has to shovel that ...
crash @ 2010-01-08 07:26:00 - looks like a long road down, happy 2010 to you sherri!
Liang @ 2010-01-08 07:45:57 - I like the lonely mood and the tracks on the snow.
BoB @ 2010-01-08 08:56:22 - A fine shot of this driveway. I never would have guessed that it was a private road...something about the power line makes it appear to be a normal road.
The skiff of snow records the considerable traffic and adds to the interest of the shot. I like your viewpoint - not in the center of the road, but just right to let us see down the power line. Well done, Sherri!
don @ 2010-01-08 09:39:45 - A lesson in perspective! Nice.
Ken @ 2010-01-08 11:56:06 - The road to nowhere! The processing gives this such a desolate feel! Nice one, Sherri!

Angelo @ 2010-01-08 12:41:54 - great lines Sherri!
Ted @ 2010-01-08 13:33:43 - It looks like one really lonely stretch of driveway. Makes me curious what really is waiting at the end. Love the muted tones.
sylvia cole @ 2010-01-08 14:30:19 - Your thought and the quote evoke quite contradictory feelings. Your photograph tips the balance towards hope and love.
Arnd @ 2010-01-08 15:10:14 - Beautiful composition, Sherri. Reminds me of the road to Lubec in Downeast Maine, though , of course the snow would be quite a bit deeper.
Turnbill @ 2010-01-08 16:08:52 - road less traveled. nice one!
faisal @ 2010-01-08 17:41:29 - Very nice. I love it when things come out of the corner off into the distance compositionally. It works perfectly with this shot.
Erinn @ 2010-01-08 18:37:10 - Terrific shot, but it looks a mighty cold road to walk. I like the natural colors.

Geoffe @ 2010-01-09 06:20:28 - Beautiful shot, I like lot, bravo!
THEYS @ 2010-01-09 07:40:08 - The road looks cold and bleak, many would probably get detered by it. But how many would make the journey if you promised that warm place at the end? How many would make the journey regardless of such a place? Thought invoking, I like it sherri :)
Mia @ 2010-01-09 10:01:58 - Love the framing, beautiful shot.
Ashish Sidapara @ 2010-01-09 10:58:55 - Looks like a very lonely place. I like the mood it conveys.

Bob Towery @ 2010-01-09 12:07:33 - Like the long view especially with the poles fading into the distance. Great angle for the road that enters from the right corner. The tracks in the snow are an added bonus to the overall captivating shot.
John Maslowski @ 2010-01-09 15:08:54 - Not a lot and nothing compared to over here. Friendly scenery.

Otto K. @ 2010-01-09 17:08:51 - Great picture. I get the feeling of being shaken around in a horse-drawn cart :)
In my experience, a bigger problem than living for your children is expecting your children to live for you.

Sabine (foKuspoint) @ 2010-01-10 08:26:40 - Great composition. It is difficult to get this type of "into infinity" shots to come together.
Framed and Shot @ 2010-01-10 19:40:27 - This is just amazing Sherri. My favourite kind of shot and you do this so well. Love how the vanishing point leaves us questioning...bravo to you!
bluechameleon @ 2010-01-10 19:59:33 - That is a very very nice landscape. Beautiful, in fact. It just needs a Sherri Berry blue sky :-)
Michael Rawluk @ 2010-01-11 00:20:57 - reminds me of where I grew up in a big arable farming community, flat desolate landscapes really do it for me, top shot!

Andrei Barbu @ 2010-01-11 07:23:04 - Beautiful capture of the light, and the way that the foreground sky blends from blue to grey, to almost a yellowy red tone in the distance. A sultry image, beautifully observed.

hoi @ 2010-01-12 11:22:53 - The never ending road. Amazing it's actually a driveway. I couldn't imagine having to drive down this everyday. It only takes me ten minutes to get to work! Nice shot.
Mike @ 2010-01-13 08:10:30 - Love this shot...the repetition of the telephone poles into the vanishing horizon is great. I like it so much I'm leaning slightly to the left as I type. :)
Hess @ 2010-01-13 08:41:26 - fine shot!
terrorkitten @ 2010-01-13 17:37:04 - Wow love how this road seems to go on forever! Also really like the sense of isolation in this shot.

Diane @ 2010-01-14 22:38:38 - A deep view in a flat landscape. Good!
Joachim @ 2010-01-16 02:53:12

...on a very long driveway. This is not a road.
It looks more like sand to me for some reason. Wouldn't it be wonderful if anyone who had lost their way could find a path like this and it would automatically take them to a warm, soft place? A place where all those who love them are gathered and waiting their return?
If you live for your children, they may be smitten down and leave you desolate, or, what is far worse, they may desert you and leave you worse than childless in a cold and unfeeling world.
