- i THINK my mom had an old woody with a split windshield, but not sure, nice shot, Sherri... about the bed, yes we have a queen sized bed in the bedroom, what you are looking at is the futon couch/bed in the living room, right now it's a couch, but sometimes we take it down so we can both lay down :) curiosity satisfied i hope?
Elaine- @ 2010-03-21 20:29:55 - I wish I could see the wood side but this is an excellent image as it is. A wonderful old car that probably has a lot of history behind it!
Self Indulgence @ 2010-03-21 20:56:55 - A nice find and interesting composition.
Andrés @ 2010-03-21 20:59:50 - Your car photos seem to have so much personality in them. I feel this one is trying unsuccesfully to hide behind the bushes.
jo @ 2010-03-21 21:19:03 - it's hard to think they actually made cars out of metal.
cars today don't rust, they fade and peel away to nothingness.
i suppose the trade off is cars are safer today. seat belts, air bags and a "crunch zone" protect the driver and passengers.
but those old cars have a lot more personality.
they didn't all look the same like cars today.
Seraphine @ 2010-03-21 21:41:26 - The removal of that center post was received with the same acclaim as a new processor today...technology : ] best...jerry
ordinaryimages @ 2010-03-21 21:45:32 - I like the soft feeling of the old paint job. I guess those old split windshields were probably cheaper to make and easier to install than the modern full curve ones; definitely a nice look we'll probably never see in any new vehicles..
Mark Johnson @ 2010-03-21 21:46:36 - When I see an image like this, I truly wish I could go back to a different time.
Kala @ 2010-03-21 21:54:15 - wow looks so abandoned on this shot, great concealed observer shot!
Liang @ 2010-03-21 21:56:33 - Cool old car. Nice capture.
B. Thomas @ 2010-03-21 22:07:46 - Ah, now Sherri, don't show your age; I had a dark green 1952 Chevrolet with a split windshield that I bought off an old farmer for $50.00 back in 1966 up in Westmoreland, KS - and I might add it had "PowerGlide". Another great shot of a hidden treasure - if I smile I don't feel so old.
Don @ 2010-03-21 22:19:16 - Wow. Never even imagined someone would make a split windsheild on a car! I've seen some vintage cars and none of them had one.
Anshul @ 2010-03-22 00:21:46 - Even though I was around, Sherri, I don't remember them either. In fact, there are so many things I don't remember at all...except for the photos that remind me...of what I still don't remember! Images like this are soulful to me.
Ginnie @ 2010-03-22 01:07:56 - Great capture, i like this old car. Is like some detective inside the car is waiting to apear the subject :) Excellent work!
Andrei Barbu @ 2010-03-22 02:01:58 - you should make a series of these car wreck shots

JJ @ 2010-03-22 05:33:59 - A fine shot of this old classic looking car. I had an old Pontiac that had split windshields...the flat surface was good for windshield wipers.

Charles Dastodd @ 2010-03-22 09:19:29 - Always found it amazing how people would just park the cart on the side and walk away.
Nick @ 2010-03-22 11:24:16 - Nice framing!
Laurens Kuipers @ 2010-03-22 13:01:17 - Such a great reveal. I have an affinity for such finds. Its been too long since I've been able to make the time to get lost in my favorite photoblogs. I'm happy to see such consistently focused imagery Sherri. Bravo.
Chris Cardelli @ 2010-03-22 13:59:10 - Excellent!

Otto K. @ 2010-03-22 16:46:37 - Wow split windshield...haven't seen one of those for a while!! Unbelievable shot...excellent light and muted tones! Love it!
Sandy Weston @ 2010-03-22 17:51:29 - A childhood friend of mine had a 1954 VOLVO PV with a split windshield. It was dark red and beautiful.
Frida @ 2010-03-23 04:43:05 - oh gosh, I remember those cars with the split windshield. My dad was so proud of his old Chevrolet and I remember a minister who would visit my parents had a spanking new Pontiac with the split windshield. I remember being mesmerized by the hood ornament.
Diane @ 2010-03-24 12:40:32 - this car is sneaking up on you! I wonder how long it's been there...
Arjan - PlasticDaisy @ 2010-03-25 16:22:10 - I love old trucks. This image is a beauty.
Jim Browning @ 2010-03-26 08:21:20

I don't remember split windshields, but I have always liked the look. The owner told me this is a 1951 Chevrolet.
All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this, as in other ways, they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it.
