- Looks like the cows have been busy. The tree is far more graceful in Winter. best...jerry

Yvonne @ 2010-02-04 22:07:51 - such a contrast - the pole and the tree. as others say - gorgeous tree shape. i like the empty sky too.

Nice image with a feel of solitude.
Ivar @ 2010-02-04 22:50:03 - oh how beautiful, Sherri!!! i love solitary tree pictures, i never see them around here, and the fence in the background... just perfect....
Elaine- @ 2010-02-04 23:02:14 - I like the "image notes" that accompany this; Winter solstice is only a moment in time, but this certainly captures midwinter very nicely. I've always noticed during the Summer, that cattle will sometimes gather around and beneath a tree like that during the approach of a storm - wouldn't be neat if a tree could talk.
Don @ 2010-02-04 23:15:59 - are all those things in the foreground
groundhog holes or cow poops?
either way, you have to be careful
i guess, where you step...

Toni @ 2010-02-07 12:44:33 - I agree...the quote fits very well. I don't understand how you get that look you get with your photos. I call it "the pearweed look", and during my hiatus I tried to recreate it but failed miserably.
Dustin @ 2010-02-07 13:00:12 - After nine months - our planning leaves no option but to go forward - or in whatever other direction that leaves us. And after several decades - in spite of our best laid plans - the options narrow to zero again.
Curious.

Except during the nine months before he draws his first breath, no man manages his affairs as well as a tree does.
