• A bleak scene, with the barest hint of artificiality in the power lines and the far-off house. Interesting commentary on ignorance and knowledge as well... reminds me of the fact that I am still ignorant of any assignments for my classes that I have tomorrow!

• As long as we don't ignore everything that is a challenge. Instead we should do something to help. It's kind of a bleak scene and I think it shows a sad mood.

• i don't see the bleak here. maybe it's because we don't have many colors in the winter. but in this i see really gorgeous blue/grays in the sky and in the reflections on the water. and i see sun on the poles and grass. to me this feels calm and confident.

• wonderfully captured! i love the way the water runs over the road here and into the field. it feels a bit like there could have been a flood and we are seeing things after the water as receded. A really nice job :)

• Yes, very bleak. Winter in the south is more oppressive than winter in the north in many ways. In the south, everything that died in the fall is left exposed on the ground or covered with a thin glaze of ice. In the north, we have two feet of snow to cover it all until spring and then, miraculously, the crocuses appear.

...this rice field and driveway didn't flood. Or better yet, that the flood waters will be a good thing and this year he won't have to irrigate the field as much as a typical year. We'll also pretend it won't keep him from getting into the field early enough to plant the rice to ensure a harvest in 2010.
