shoe hangup

image notes: puzzled thoughts and theories surround scenes like this. why would someone throw their shoes or the shoes of another person over power lines? i’ve never understood how they can do it much less why they do it, but this spring i noticed something i’d never observed before. there seemed to be a pair of sneakers hanging on power lines wherever i looked the day after school ended. i had to wonder if it was some type of celebration; a rite of passage knowing they’d never have to use the sneakers for school again.

the day after your last shot about the shoes, i went out without my camera like a doofus and i missed a ton of great shots, one of them was shoes on a power line, which i don’t believe i had ever seen in real life before…. see what you do to me? :)

A friend told me that when his son started using drugs, a pair of sneakers was hung on a power line near the house. It was allegedly done either by his son or his friends to mark his house for drug dealers.

I’ll vote for Rian’s answer. I’ll go with little sisters getting back at big brothers.

I’ve heard the same story that Salvatore relates. ..but knowing the cost of good sneakers it seems an odd thing to do.

But on the plus side, it’s presented you with a splendid graphical opportunity, that you’ve captured with panache..

Sherri, you’ve just reminded me that I’ve always wondered about this, too. I love the minimalist look here!
