I was told the reason for developing those round bales is that farmers could not find people crazy enough to throw around the smaller rectangular ones in 90+ degree summer weather. One of my horrible memories growing up was baling hay. Or maybe farmers and farm equipment manufacturers thought these would look better in pictures.
I love the ambience of this scenery. And the limited colour tones are beautiful and fits the expression of the picture perfectly. Gives it a feeling of times gone by. Wonderfully captured and processed.
That looks like a nice cutting – plenty of bales, and no stubble. Time to head for the barn and seek a little shade. By the way – I can hear the cicadas.
