image notes: thousands of blackbirds flew in and blanketed the lawns and trees in our neighborhood last week. i stood for about 30 minutes trying to capture an image to give an essence of the size of the flock, but it didn’t work out well. the few in this image sat rather calmly in the treetops of our back yard as the others swarmed in the air like bees, landing on the lawns for moments only to swarm again and test another landing spot. zoli, who becomes enraged at squirrels when they jump from tree to tree in his territory sat quietly by the back door until they were gone. the sounds were like an audio clip from the movie, the birds.

Well done, Sherri. I like this a lot. I can see a lot of people wanting this, not only for their wall, but for cds or book covers.

What a unique image this is, Sherri. It’s the whole concept, and of course, the use of negative space.

good choice in how you framed this! Very minimalistic yet a real interesting image. I like how all but one of the birds are facing one direction.
