before the silent snow

Lensbaby 3G Selective Focus SLR Lens with Lensbabies 0.6x Wide Angle Lens 37mm

How could it be that one day I will say goodbye to all of this and miss the lilac spring, the May times whistling on the wind, and the robin’s kiss? In the summertime, when days and evenings are in rhyme, you will not find me in the grove among the lilies in repose or weeding in the garden path where scented seedlings hold on fast. When autumn falls I’ll cast no shadow on the wall or hear the owl’s haunted hoot high above the rotting root. When all is orange russet red I will not be with you in bed. The day the silent snow descends and lolls to sleep all living friends, I too will slumber in the earth among the seeds and squirrel’s birth. Who will miss me? Who will care? When I am called and no one’s there?

i will miss Duane Michals – he’s an amazing photographer.

with this i really like how my eye is drawn to the white parts of the petals and where the petals meet the stem. as if it’s the center or the base that is the most important.

A very effective flower image. I particularly like the deep colors and the highlight on the rose. Beautiful image. Michael’s statement is so loaded with meaning for all of us.

Very nice. I love those deep, dark greens enveloped in black. They really make the rose jump out. Very nicely done, Sherri.

what’s wrong with Duane? is he sick? such a sad quote you have for today, but maybe death is particularly sad for photographers, who have purposed to find the beauty in this life, lovely lovely picture, Sherri

I’ve just used the word “magical” in a comment on another of your images, Sherri, and feel bound to use it again here. Love how this flower seems to appear out of nowhere, with that background as it is.
