the zebra & the tree
White County, Arkansas
Somewhere, out there, beyond the gate…

Everyone, at some point in their lives, wakes up in the middle of the night with the feeling that they are all alone in the world, and that nobody loves them now and that nobody will ever love them, and that they will never have a decent night’s sleep again and will spend their lives wandering blearily around a loveless landscape, hoping desperately that their circumstances will improve, but suspecting, in their heart of hearts, that they will remain unloved forever. The best thing to do in these circumstances is to wake somebody else up, so that they can feel this way, too.

January 28, 2011I go away for 2 months and you have a new design! :) Nice job! And this zebra is really cool! It’s somewhat weird as I would expect a horse :)

January 28, 2011This dreamscape is hauntingly beautiful. I wonder how the zebra got roped into this winter scene.

January 29, 2011For whatever reason this makes me giggle, like receiving one of those cards that are initially vague while a quip-y slogan awaits inside. I wish I could think of one now that I said that out loud. Lovely happenstance!

January 30, 2011Such a sad, haunting photo. Were it not for the snow, it could be one of our abysmal west Texas “exotic game ranch” scenes.
I suspect it’s no mistake you paired the image with the quotation – that’s loneliness personified.

January 30, 2011Hauntingly beautiful. I’m assuming this zebra is not in Arkansas..and that you’ve ‘created’ this stunning dreamscape!

January 31, 2011Beautiful tones and composition, although I would not expect to see a zebra in Arkansas. I feel sorry for the animal – its far from home.

January 31, 2011I am so LOLing, Sherri. The image is so incredulous…but finding that quote to go with it is pure genius. This is one of my favorites of your posts ever. :)

February 2, 2011Très curieuse cette photo. Il est sortie de nulle part ce zèbre.
Mais ce qui est sûr, c’est que la pose nous va bien et il embellit la photo.

May 20, 2011Great photo Sherri but for a Zebra to wake up in the snow has to be even worse than Lemony Snicket’s dream :-(….peter:)
I like the tree:)
